Out on the Gator Hook Trail off Loop Road in the Everglades, everything felt muted and still. It was flooded, so I was stepping carefully on the limestone, watching for holes. The clouds had rolled in, smothering the sun, leaving this soft, moody light everywhere. Those old cypress trees stood around like quiet witnesses. It's one of those places that feels timeless. Like, if you just slow down enough, you slip right into its rhythm. It was just peaceful.
